Do your documents comply with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) legislation?

In November, more than 100 public sector employees and industry leaders attended OpenWeb 2016 to learn about public expectations when it comes to digital accessibility. 

Now, in collaboration with the Region of Waterloo, we are proud to provide public sector organizations with additional help related to meeting AODA regulations: Accessible Documents Training On-Demand. These online training modules allow you to complete accessible documents training at your own pace, according to your schedule.

Register online to gain access to three training modules. Once you've successfully completed all three courses, you are also provided with a printable Certificate of Completion.

Module 1: Fillable Forms

  • Identify fillable form properties used by assistive technologies
  • Evaluate the accessibility of fillable forms using the Accessibility Checker and Accessibility Summary
  • Create accessible fillable forms that comply with accessibility legislation

Module 2: Microsoft® Word 2010

  • Identify Word document properties used by assistive technologies
  • Apply accessibility best practices to new Word documents,
  • Evaluate the accessibility of a Word document using the Accessibility Checker
  • Create accessible Word documents that comply with AODA legislation

Module 3: PDF Adobe Acrobat Pro

  • Identify PDF document properties used by assistive technologies
  • Evaluate the accessibility of PDF documents using the Accessibility Checker and Accessibility Summary
  • Create accessible PDF documents that comply with AODA legislation

Included in all training modules:

  • AODA legislation, standards and rules that businesses and organizations in Ontario must follow
  • What you need to do to meet public expectations
  • An overview of assistive technologies
