As of July 1, 2017, government procurement comes under—and must be compliant with—the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA).

bids&tenders™ is compliant with these agreements, and if your organization is currently using this award-winning eProcurement system, no further action on your part as a buyer agency is needed as far as software and technological requirements.

CETA requires that all notices of intended procurement be directly accessible by electronic means free of charge through a single point of access. The new requirements set forth by these legislations do not introduce anything bids&tenders is not currently accommodating. Government Procurement, Trade and Environment Division (TPZ) has confirmed that bids&tenders is a gateway electronic site that is accessible free of charge to non-registered users.

What it means

The CETA and the CFTA aim to expand Canadian businesses and increase economic growth both within Canada and in the European Union (EU) for procurement purposes. The new legislation strives to create jobs across borders and open opportunities for companies across continents to share, work, build, and grow together.

What you need to know

The CETA and the CFTA are similar in their legal requirements and goals. CETA aims at being inclusive to European nations and broadening the scope of who we do business with in the EU when it comes to procurement in Canada. CFTA endeavours to provide equal opportunities to all suppliers and vendors within our nation.
