01-05-2013 - It’s easy to see why residents, tourists and investors are attracted to Stratford. It’s dramatically different and geographically, economically and technologically in the heart of it all. City staff wanted to enhance the City’s online services and information, and promote its unique advantages, such as being home to the University of Waterloo’s Stratford Campus, the Stratford Festival, a progressive business park, and a superb a quality of life that nurtures innovation. They also wanted to ensure that a framework was put in place so people who have disabilities or impairments can access the content online.
After collaborating with the City to create an intuitive, comprehensive website sitemap, eSolutions’ writing team conducted interviews with department staff to write engaging, accessible content for several sections of the site. The content adheres to web writing best practices and Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians Disability Act (AODA) standards. The key advantages of the City come through in the content, vibrant images and easy-to-read graphs and tables. The site makes use of a social media feeds that can be expanded on the homepage, videos and numerous photo galleries. The website is also hosted at eSolutions’ secure Tier 3 Data Fortress. 29-04-2012 - Funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, eHealth Ontario allows health practitioners access to important medical tests and results in a centralized, electronic registry. eHealth Ontario wanted to enhance its online presence with two portals delivering applications, resources and collaborative communities intuitively: a Provider Portal (for physicians, health care practitioners, nurses, dental professionals, ministries/government and health administrators) and a Patient Portal (residents, youth, young families and seniors in Ontario registered with OHIP).
eSolutions facilitated focus groups, online surveys and sitemap workshops to determine the requirements and content organization for both portals. The key findings were that the portals should encourage interactivity and dialogue through enhanced navigation, and easy access to relevant content, training and integrated healthcare applications. eHealth was particularly excited to launch the new patient portal since their offerings were currently a provider-only portal.
The secure Provider Portal offers health practitioners access to eHealth's applications (Panorama, OHIS, lab results viewer, drug profile viewer, etc.); health updates and electronic notices; their personal profile; enterprise reports; collaboration discussions/forums; and more. On the secure Patient Portal, registered patients can access their profile details; lab results; surveys; recommended health care providers and more. In addition to creating designs and information architectures that meets the distinct needs of both audiences, the designs adhere to compatibility requirements for Internet Explorer 7, 8, 9; Firefox; Chrome; Safari; Opera and are W3C Compliant, (AODA WCAG 2.0 AA). The portals’ CSS and HTML are mobile friendly for BlackBerry, Android, iPhone and Windows Phone. Content is available in English and French. As part of the design, eSolutions provided eHealth with the complete design files for implementation into their Oracle WebCenter templates.

25-01-2013 - The City of Wausau is located in the heart of Wisconsin. When an old landfill site was remediated and a future park planned, the City wanted an easy way to show Wausau residents what the new park would offer. Rather than presenting static engineering drawings of the park’s plans and amenities, they desired an interactive, visual format that would truly showcase the vision and possibilities of the lands surrounding the Holtz Krause Athletic Complex.
Working from engineering plans and drawings, eSolutionsGroup created a storyboard for a short animation. The goal was to show the new park’s parameters, soccer fields, playground equipment, parking areas and its relationship to the existing Holtz Krause Athletic Complex. eSolutions’ animation team created a 3-D model using lighting, a camera and special effects. The model evolved into a full video animation using special effects. The final result is an informative, visual experience showing the park’s future plans that Wausau’s residents can easily understand and see.
The City of Wausau used the animation for information sessions to educate the public on the landfill’s uses before and after the remediation, and to gather feedback. According to the client, “The animation was shown at a press conference and was a big success. We are now using it for marketing.” The City has posted the animation on its website to market the green/repurposing initiatives of the landfill as well as the development of the soccer fields and surrounding areas around the athletic complex. "The Board's web site is the centre of current information on the Board and its Catholic schools. Careful research and planning have gone into our new site to ensure that it is easy for parents, staff, and visitors to navigate and find the information they are looking for. We encourage parents and anyone else interested to become part of our Catholic e-community."
New features to note in the redesigned site include: social media integration; uniform look; distinctively Catholic branding; easy editing; Google map integration; interactive calendar; image galleries throughout; related news stories box; call out boxes for feature information; features students and staff; and custom menus for each section.
Among the improvements, visitors will notice right away a much cleaner, streamlined format that will allow people to find the information they're looking for more quickly. The Home Page also features a more prominent news section including photographs, event announcement banners, alert notification and a new district-wide events calendar.
In addition to its new design and organization of information, the new web site has an e-community section that invites parents, and those interested in receiving current information on activities and events throughout our Catholic Board, to receive e-mail notification. Members of our Board's e-community will receive news as it happens. For example, when there is an event notice, e-community members will be sent an e-mail message as soon as the information is made public.
The Board's new web site will continue to develop over the upcoming months as new features are introduced. The site is a dynamic site that will be evolving and developing to ensure that information is always current and relevant to all communities. Visit the new Board of Education website >

Social Media is a Conversation, Not a Campaign
25/11/11 - Social media involves a shift in where we communicate and not necessarily in how we communicate. Where do most social media conversations occur? More than 1.5 million conversation segments are shared on Facebook each day. People continue to power the tools that generate the conversation, but today the tools are online. They are faster, compete for your attention, offer more options and capabilities, and employ multiple senses in the delivery and reception of the message
This month, eSolutions has published a social media article in the Economic Development Journal of Canada. The article, written by Saj Jamal and edited by Tracy Smith, summarizes key highlights from the company's social media presentations at conferences and tradeshows in 2011, including the Ontario Small Urban Municipalities conference.

Don't Waste Another Day - Green Bins Visible in Waterloo Region
14/11/2011 - The Region of Waterloo is encouraging you: don't waste another day. A new marketing campaign, seen around the Region on bus shelters, billboards, and in advertisements, is the newest addition to their waste diversion programs: Green Bin Organics.
Although most residents recycle every week using their blue boxes, Regional staff noticed that fewer residents are using their green bins regularly to compost food waste and other organic products. Forty per cent of household waste is organic; therefore, green bins have the largest potential to divert household waste. The Region wanted to boost awareness, and educate the community on the benefits of using their green bins in a stimulating, thought-provoking way.
eSolutions' Marketing & Creative Services team created mock-ups of various scenarios focused around the environmental benefits, and "feel good reasons" of why residents should use their green bin. The tagline, Don't waste another day, is the unifying theme for the entire waste program (hazardous waste, compost, electronic). The landfill and soil is personified to emphasize a positive relationship between residents, and their one and only landfill in the region. Targeted ads for children, youth, post-secondary and home owners are also part of this unique campaign that engages the community, and differentiates itself from other municipal recycling campaigns that focus on solely on the bin and instructions for its use. The marketing campaign is being rolled out throughout the municipality this month, November 2011, with posters and advertisements featured on buses, bus shelters, billboards, newspapers, and more.

Explore the North with Interactive Trip Planner
4/10/2011 - eSolutionsGroup collaborated with the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership and the City of Thunder Bay to develop an easy-to-use, touring route mapping and planning solution to help boost Northern Ontario as a tourism destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

Using a custom mapping/database application combined with Google Maps technology, the application allows users to develop, implement, and maintain their own touring routes, and to access the routes and itineraries from a mobile device, and then share their journey with friends and family on Facebook. Users of the tool experience more of the area's best in class assets (food, accommodation, attractions/activities); the communities, tourism organizations, and other stakeholders benefit economically.
Launched in early October, this trip planning tool has already helped thousands of travelers experience more on their Northern Ontario vacations. Work is currently underway to introduce additional routes in 2012.

The Creative Services team designed a vibrant website that is welcoming and communicates that the Centre has something for all ages, and is a "new experience every time that you visit."

Blog posts are added using i:Blog to keep the community abreast of news. Staff create online forms and surveys easily using i:Survey. The Centre's box office links to TixHub.com within a customized webpage designed by eSolutions, and additional online program registrations integrate with the Town's e-services. The site is mobile-friendly and accessible to meet the needs of its diverse audiences. eSolutionsGroup also designed the Centre's tickets, eNewsletter templates, and a specially branded section on the site for the Centre' Film Forum.
Launched in August 2011, the website reminds every individual, what the arts at the MCA can add to their lives, and how the Centre is welcoming, accessible, and offers something for everyone.
15/7/2011 - The Ontario Trillium Foundation supports not-for-profits and charitable organizations with the overall goal of strengthening the capacity of organizations in the arts and culture, environment, human and social services, and sports and recreation sectors.
The Foundation required a website analysis for the first phase of redevelopment of its online presence to ensure that its new website would be user-friendly and accessible. eSolutionsGroup worked closely with key Foundation staff and external stakeholders to design the plan that ultimately led to the design of a new website for this important provincial granting organization. New Websites Provide Valuable Services to Waterloo Region
26/05/2011 - With the Region of Waterloo steadily growing in population, Regional Council and Senior Management Officials recognized the need for new websites that would help residents and visitors travel to, from, and around the Region and provide easy access to public transit routes and schedules for the Cities of Cambridge, Kitchener, and Waterloo. After consultation and planning sessions, eSolutionsGroup officially launched two new websites in March for Grand River Transit (GRT) and the Region of Waterloo International Airport.

The new GRT website includes links to an EasyGo Trip Planner where riders can view an interactive map and real-time schedules for specific days and routes. They can also subscribe to receive GRT Rider Alert emails, Twitter notices, or RSS news feeds to stay informed of GRT news and service changes. You can visit the new GRT website at www.grt.ca.
The Waterloo Region International Airport staff also desired a site that would be as easy to navigate as the airport itself. The site also includes Google maps and a social media room integrating Facebook and Twitter feeds for effortless interaction between airport staff and customers. You can visit the new airport website at www.waterlooairport.ca.

The branding project, advertised through a request for proposal process, is part of a greater strategy to drive sustainable growth and build a comprehensive communications strategy for the City. eSolutionsGroup conducted interviews and focus groups with the Mayor, councilors, City staff, business owners, residents, and those employed in Cambridge. The cross-section of participants included those living or working in the communities of Preston, Galt, Hespeler, and Blair. Traverse Independence: A New Name for a Long Standing Organization
20/12/2010 - There's a new organization called Traverse Independence. Yet it has offered services in Waterloo Region for the past 33 years, empowering and connecting adults on their journey towards living independently.
Beginning today, the not-for-profit organization formerly known as Participation House - Waterloo Wellington will be known as Traverse Independence, which provides services for adults with acquired brain injuries (ABI) and physical disabilities. For the first time, our organization has a distinct brand identity that makes a clear statement about how we work with our clients to help them to be independent."
A quick Google search reveals that approximately 12 organizations in Ontario have the name Participation House. Traverse Independence was chosen as the new name because it communicates the organization's journey of growth, its mission of empowering adults on their journey towards independence, and differentiates the unique services offered by the organization. "Our online bids and tenders provide greater service to our customers, save time for our internal staff and for plan takers bidding on opportunities, and promote green technology," says Linda Leeds, the Town's director of corporate services.
The Town of Milton wanted to develop a system to handle its growing number of requests for proposals, quotations and tenders. Launched in the spring of 2009, the Town's website now provides an easy way to communicate information with companies interested in placing bids for Town projects. The site includes a description of the bid, lists the companies interested in placing a bid, the companies who successfully bid, and their quotation for the work to be done.
"It's a very transparent process: who the plan takers are, what the bid results are, and the results. The opportunities are open for the public to see and bid on," explains Leslie Williamson, the Town's manager of purchasing and risk. "Since adapting to eSolutions' online system, we now receive 50% more bids on projects, and the Town has experienced tremendous cost savings. It's been beneficial all the way around for us."
eSolutions is currently working with the Town of Milton on a new application that will assist the Town in managing legal claims.
