AWS Solution Architect/Developer

About the job:

We are looking for an AWS Solution Architect to join our talented, well-established, client-centric IT team. The position will report directly to the Project Lead or Development Manager based at our Waterloo or Toronto office.

About you:

You strive for client satisfaction through rapid delivery of high-quality solutions built on AWS services. You would rather code automated solutions to save time and money instead of perform repetitive tasks. You thrive as an independent worker and are comfortable leading design and architecture, and development of solutions based on AWS services. Taking responsibility of assigned tasks and performing at a high level of quality, speed, reliability and efficiency is second nature to you. You love sharing your proficient knowledge of products and processes within your team

As a seasoned architect and AWS developer you are able to meet with internal and external clients to find solutions to common pain points or areas for efficiency. You can articulate the solution back to the internal or external stakeholders and document the design and deployment process. Your experience for within the AWS ecosystem is clearly evident.

You enjoy working closely with other team members to ensure team success. You believe that the best way to stay ahead of the game is through continual learning and helping others to do the same.

What you'll do:

  • Work with clients and internal teams to design and architect AWS Cloud based solutions
  • Work with internal teams to quote AWS based solutions for a multitude of client problems or situations
  • Create monitoring and SLA plans around proposed AWS architectures
  • Create migration plans to move existing on-premise solutions into the AWS ecosystem
  • Develop solutions utilizing AWS services
  • Deploy, manage, and maintain AWS solutions

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Great problem solving skills, extensive experience debugging and evaluating existing solutions
  • A positive attitude, flexibility, eagerness and the ability to learn
  • Ability to take common tasks and automate them into time-saving processes
  • Ability to work independently in a self-directed manner or in a small team
  • Extensive experience designing serverless and EC2 based architectures on AWS
  • Demonstrable experience taking multiple AWS services and combining them into a client solution
  • Experience designing fault tolerant and geographically diverse systems
  • 3+ years working with AWS and AWS services
  • 5+ years designing and architecting software systems
  • 3+ years working and interacting with clients
  • 4+ years of practical development experience
  • 3+ years of experience with multiple design patterns including but not limited to SOA and Micro Services
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • AWS Serverless component experience (Examples: Lambda's, ECS, SQS)
  • AWS certification or equivalent experience required
